Time Terrorists and 2012
The Earth is a living being, with a will for evolutionary change. If we are in harmony with the Earth's purpose, then we are able to assimilate some of its wisdom into our own lives, and then utilise that wisdom for cultural change. Earth changes is a very beautiful and positive phenomenon. Then why do so many people today regard "earth changes" as a synonym for fear, death, and destruction?
The reasons are many. Some individuals are afraid of the Earth and do not trust nature. Others are afraid of change. Still others have anxieties about the calendar, and worry about 2000, 2012, or some other year. Often, individuals are burdened by negative religious concepts about the future. When all of the above unfortunate reactions are combined together, then grand, overpowering illusions result.
For example, many people are fond of predicting that great natural disasters will occur before a fixed date in the near future. Then, after that date, the chosen few will inhabit a purified, paradisial reality. The fixed date arrives, and nothing dire eventuates. So a new date is chosen, the promise of perfection somewhere in the future is made once again, and the hoax is perpetuated. How long must this go on?
Fortunately, most of the human race knows that the Sun will rise tomorrow, the birds will sing, and life will continue on its patient way. In every era, the time terrorists and millennial hoaxers are in a minority. And, as their tactics are essentially uncreative, relying on the manipulation of fears by using time to create pressures, their influence on world evolution is negligible. The Earth does not take note of those who attempt to impose deadlines upon it.
One of the worst abuses of this kind, at the present time, involves time terrorists who are trying to use the year 2012 for their own purposes. It is a tale of little interest to the vast majority of the world's inhabitants, but follows the negative pattern stated above. How many people remember the event held at many sacred sites on 17 August, 1987? In the media, this was popularly known as "Harmonic Convergence." This was not a name originally attached to the date. Very few - among those who were involved in it - had any idea where the concept came from. The date, 17 August, 1987, was first put forward in the late '60's and early '70's by an American Indian named Tony Shearer. He wrote two books (Lord of the Dawn and Beneath the Moon and Under the Sun) about it which can still be tracked down and read. It is vital to understand and respect his vision, if anyone wants to understand what 1987 was all about.
First of all, let's state what it was not about:
1. It had absolutely nothing to do with the Mayan calendar.
2. It did not concern itself with sci-fi concepts like "photon belts."
3. It was not some preliminary date which would be a signal to generate publicity for some future date.
Tony Shearer did not try to use the 1987 date to attract attention to himself. He did not try to start a movement or cult based on the prophecy. There was a groundedness, gentleness, positivity, and simplicity about his vision. When the day of his prophecy came, he simply played his flute at an ancient site in Mexico. There was an innocence, and a clear sense of perfection and completion about Tony's prophecy. Unfortunately, that perfection has been temporarily eclipsed by those who have attempted to manipulate and distort the 1987 event, in service to unimaginative agendas which have been foisted upon others again and again.
What was the structural foundation for Tony Shearer's prophecy? He obtained the 17 August date from his study of the Aztec sun calendar stone, a very famous artifact kept in a museum in Mexico City. According to his interpretation, the Aztec calendar was structured in 52 year cycles. There would be five great worlds succeeding each other, with 22 times 52 years, or 1144 years in each world. Then, on the first day of the "sixth" world, the calendar would finally return to the same day - for the first time - as the first day of the calendar, 5,720 years ago. In other words, it would be like returning to the first day of Creation, in some ancient mythical Garden of Eden. Tony calculated that this day of entering the new earthly heaven was 17 August, 1987, at sunrise, Mexican time.
The important point to grasp from this is that the 1987 date was the Point of Perfection, the Omega Point of vision. The lesson we can learn from this is to not project perfection into some future point in any calendar's system. All prophecies have already been fulfilled. Seek perfection in the present instant of your life, don't attempt to locate your perfection in the future. Christ has already returned; the spirit of Quetzalcoatl flows freely throughout the Earth, the Messiah has come. If we master the art of finding perfection in the present circumstances of our lives, then we must stop playing the game of waiting for Messiah - or the "photon belt" - to come. Perfection will never come from external devices or hero figures. It certainly won't come from playing around with Mayan calendars.
In my poem (written in 1975) The Invocation of the Omega Point, there is a line: "The Omega Point is Here." That means that perfection is right now, wherever you are. The Time Terrorists do not understand this. Instead, they set perfection on a date in 2012, and then threaten people by telling them that unless certain things are done before that date, massive destruction will result. But if the UN and the Pope and everyone switches to some new Mayan-based calendar before that date, then all will be saved. This is the level of degradation that "earth changes" as a topic has sunk to. I repeat: The Earth does not take any notice of deadlines imposed by humans and their various calendars.
So how can we raise to a more productive level the concept of earth changes? We need to seek simplicity in what we do. As far as calendars go, we already have in use simple, natural calendars in many cultures around the world. The calendar of nature is lunar. The 1 billion Muslims of the world use a pure lunar calendar. Chinese and Jewish calendars run according to the new and full moon pattern. So one suggestion is this: Try to harmonise your life with the natural rhythms of the moon. Regard each new moon as the first day of the month. This will hopefully lead to a greater appreciation of the present moment.
If you want to make a future prophecy, don't create pressure in time. Dedicate your future date to being of service to whoever might want to use it, without attachment to whether anyone will actually get any good results from the event, or not. Every day is a holy day in someone's sacred calendar. No point in time contains any more grace than another. Enjoy life as you live it.
Try to trust in the Earth. Practice that art of listening to the Earth. If it has changes to make, then trust that the Earth knows what it is doing, and that all of its "earth changes" are wise, positive evolutionary advancements. There is absolutely nothing to fear about either change or the future.
Don't give any energy or attention to the negative prophecies of the Time Terrorists. We need to motivate ourselves from trust and beauty and all good things. Don't try to use either death or ascension as a means of escaping from life here on Earth. Perfection is Here. Eternity has plenty of time to spare.
Design your predictions of Earth Changes in 100% positive terms. A simple, beautiful vision can inspire others. Let your prophecies be a clear expression of Earth wisdom. Let a great strength of peace permeate every aspect of your ideals and your activities. Stop treating the Earth as a second-class citizen. Would you make negative prophecies about changes in your own life? Well don't make negative predictions about changes in the Earth's life either.
After the 1987 event, many tried to imitate it. Now, as we enter the new century on one calendar, countless events are being proposed as future Omega Points, as essential instants in time which will change the world. This is a part of the Millennial Madness which normally coincides with the turning of a major cycle on someone's calendar. If a New Aeon is being formed culturally, remember that it won't happen overnight. Real cultural development requires hard, constructive work - over long periods of time - in order to be successful. Patience and much persistence are required.
Ideally, Earth prophecies should originate from the Living Earth itself, and not be distorted by human consciousness. Trust in the Earth, and clarity of communication will result. Don't express prophecies in elite or esoteric terms. If you make specific predictions for exact times, then try to use real, objective phenomena, which everyone can agree is really happening - such as full moons, an equinox, or a major outer planet conjunction. Never think or predict that bad things will happen if people don't pay any attention to your prophecy. Life, in its own way, and in its own time, is destined to triumph over all things.
